Goats rescued after 2 days on 6-inch ledge

Two young goats that wandered onto the thin ledge of a railroad bridge and spent two days high above a highway were hungry but safe when they were plucked to safety with a towering cherry picker.

A Hawaii hairdresser is helping send a homeless man from Seattle back home to be with his ailing father. Denise Sakai answered a call from state Rep. John Mizuno for donations to send Gregory Reese to Washington state. Instead of just a partial donation, Sakai bought Reese a $299 ticket online for a flight Thursday to Seattle.

A nonprofit known as the Nehemiah Group says it has raised $250,000 to help care for the residents for a year. A tent city built by the homeless next to a highway exit was disbanded abruptly as well-off benefactors took some 50 residents off in a bus with a promise of free housing for a year.
